Yesterday started a special week for me.  I am serving as the substitute captain aboard one of the Florida Sea Base Newton Dive Specials, BSA Explorer.  It’s nice to be on the water and even nicer to interact with the participants outside the office in a more relaxed atmosphere and be more just another staff member instead of the boss.  Rescue Diver/Boat Mate Connor Musial took good care of me and the boat yesterday.  Divemasters Bo Busler, Grace Mott and Eric Stewart supervised the divers.  All three Divemasters are graduates of last year’s Divemaster Academy.

Our first dive was at my favorite Florida Keys reef, Victory, which we shared with other FSB divers aboard BSA Sea Scout.  Our second dive was at a patch reef called Ham.  The water was about 83° and visibility was 40+ feet.

I’ve got to scoot to the 07:30 staff meeting.  Today is the last day for the crew’s on BSA Explorer.  We need to leave the dock early so we can get in a dive and be back by by 11:30 so they can have lunch and start their check-out process.
