THIS WEATHER ADVISORY WAS ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE – KEY WEST EARLY THIS MORNING:

Statement as of 3:32 AM EDT on June 19, 2012
… A significant weather statement for rainfall and flooding in low
lying and poor drainage areas across the entire Florida Keys through
Wednesday…

An area of low pressure over the Caribbean will slowly move
northwestward… producing well above normal rainfall across the
Florida Keys today through Wednesday night. Rainfall rates of one
inch per hour or more are expected periodically this evening through
the following 24 to 36 hours. Low lying and poor drainage areas are
at greatest risk. Ponding water in these areas and along the typical
streets and roadways is expected. Avoid driving along these roadways
and streets to minimize damage not only to your vehicle… but to
the nearby structures along these streets.

Stay tuned to NOAA all hazards weather radio… commercial radio or
television stations… or your local cable television service provider
for later statements concerning this hazardous weather threat.

Good luck.  I’m headed to class.  (I’m the one needing the good luck!)
