WEATHER

The latest cold front to push through the Florida Keys (we seem to be getting one per week lately) will likely bring us showers (60% chance) and cooler temperatures.  When the forecast looks favorable for rain at the Florida Sea Base I move my car into the open in the hopes of getting a free car wash.  We have a lot of coral dust in the air from road construction and digging for the mandated sewer lines along the highway right of way.  I know many of you can empathize with the fact that moving the car out for a wash often has a totally opposite benefit – the rain fails to cooperate.  So I figure it’s a win – win.  IF it rains, I get a needed car wash.  If moving the car jinxes the rain, we have a better day for the participants.

The regional radar from Weather Underground looked like this when I moved the car out after dinner last night.  The rain was well to our north.

This morning we are almost surrounded by rain.  The “future cast” dada suggests we might see some showers between 07:00 and 11:00 but the rain should clear out after that.

Tomorrow will be a bit cool with a low of 65 and a high of 75.  We will warm back up slowly after that.

PROGRAM

The Scuba Adventure crews returned from Alligator Reef excited to have calm seas, clear skies, and 60′ of visibility.  Unfortunately, all of that is about to change for a day or two.

The sailors were coming and going all day.  Every time I turned around there were MORE sailors.

CONFERENCE

The Scout Executives of 30 some-odd councils from the Western Region arrived at the Florida Sea Base yesterday.  The Chief Scout Executive and Assistant CSE from the National Council are expected some time today.  But trust me, our focus is on our participants.  We are honored to have so many “executives” on base, but the Scouts are why we are here.
