I fixed the link on yesterday’s post.  Please take a few minutes to go back and take a look.

I was off base most of Friday.  As soon as we were satisfied that the dive boats were going to setoff the dock, Captain Alex and I went to Marathon to run business errands at NAPA, West Marine and Home Depot.  We made it back just in time for lunch.  After lunch, I had a follow-up acupuncture appointment.  Some people are uncomfortable with needles.  Fortunately, I am not one of them.  Besides, a few needles are (in my opinion) much better than drugs or surgery.

Florida Sea Base Scuba Instructor extraordinaire, Richard Goldman, sent me this text message yesterday.

Our day started out iffy at best – Davis (Reef) had 6’ seas with 5’ vis and 4’ surge at bottom.  After hunting for other dive site we found BLUE WATER at Alligator Reef with 40’ vis (2’ seas / 1’ bottom surge).  Saw a couple of turtles and one of the boys said he saw a batfish.  Watch out Batman … you have nothing on the Florida Sea Base.

Finished up the day on a very high note.

The winds are forecasted to be from the south at 10 knots this morning.  This is the last day on the water for many of our participants.  It looks like it will be a nice one.

One crew, Scott’s Crew A (aka Seal Team 6), did use their navigation skills to find the Buddha at Davis Reef despite the conditions on Friday the 28th…

BTW, The Buddha statue has some nasty looking fire coral on it’s chin and back. Might make a good SCENE project to clean that off so no one gets stung touching the statue…?

Thanks for the heads up. SW
